Front Brakes Bites

Hi,

When i brake the front right brake seems to bite and release, bite and release bite and release....... (especially on slow speed)The pedal does not pulsate. Is it a rotor or caliper problem ? The pads are almost new and the rotors have been turned lately. The truck has 185K miles and to my knowledge the rotors have never been changed.

Thanks in advance.

Does it do it when you first start out and then not anymore after a mile or so?

My 98 has always grabbed starting out, especially on a damp morning.

Now, it only does it after sitting a week or more. This past year, I have replaced calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, shoes, slider pins, and ALL lines. I do not notice it as much now days, but, like stated before, on a damp morning, there will be a slight grab. I have just gotten use to it really.

Do a search on here for the 98 brake system, and, you will be busy reading for hours about potential problems that may persist with our application.

The sliders are paticularly a potential problem if your brakes are not releasing properly. You may want to make sure they are lubed up good with some sort of antisieze. (I use copper antisieze on mine)
