2001 Supercrew Wheel Help Needed..
2001 Supercrew Wheel Help Needed..
First time visitor here, I apologize if this has already been addressed, but I am getting some conflicting information in my research. Anyway....
I just bought a 2001 Supercrew at auction. It came with 22 inch rims and P305 45R22 tires. Big wheels and low profile tires, not really my thing, especially in the Wisconsin winters. Not sure how to get a photo on here, but I'll keep trying..
I am thinking about buying some used wheels and getting some new tires, or trying to find some take-offs wheels and tires.
I am confused as to the lug size. From what I can gather, Ford changed from 12-14 mm right around this time. Most references lump the 97-03 together as if they are all compatible. This does not seem accurate.
In fact, my 97 F-150 has 12 mm and it seems the 01 has 14 mm, as they are larger and the nuts from the 97 won't fit on the 2001. However, the lug wrench works on both....
So I am thinking that I need to make sure any wheels I buy are made for the 14 MM studs, but also need the 5X135 bolt pattern which apparently were only made till 03.
Some places say NOT to use the 12 mm wheels on the 14 mm studs as they will be too loose. However, I have also read that you can put the 14 mm on the 12 mm studs, they will just be a little "snug".
Any more definitive answers on this issue??
Sorry for the lengthy post, but don't want to get stuck with wheels I can't use....and by the way, if anyone wants to buy the current 22" monsters, let me know....

The wheels are all interchangable, the lugnuts are not. You have 14mm studs and have to use 14mm lugnuts. You can use use wheels off a 97, but you must use lugnuts for your 2001. The OEM wheels are hubcentric and almost all aftermarket wheels are lugcentric. Just make sure you have the correct lugnuts.
