Could use some opinions on sizes and tires?

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to posting on here although over the past few months I've done a LOT of searching and researching on this site, and the information on here has helped me a lot! Anyways, I'm in the process of taking my 96 4x4 ext cab f150 off the road, and probably going to sell it. In it's place will be a 2000 f150 4x4 ext cab 7700. The stock tires on it are 255/70/16's and OEM it calls for a 245/75/16 which is pretty close in size. Anyways the truck's suspension is really different than the older 96, and it has a LOT of wheel well space and I think the truck would look great with some bigger wheels and tires which I'll use the funds from selling the 96 to replace. With the 7 lug wheels, there are very few wheels out there that will fit so I'm planning on going with these ebay eagle alloy bullet-hole style ones:

Also, I'm planning on upsizing the stock tires and going towards a more aggressive MT style tread. This is where I need some help. I've been looking around at pictures on other guy's rides but I've noticed a lot of them are lifted, and with the price of true lift kits and with the amount of offroading and towing I'd do I feel I don't have to purchase into one to get the look I'm looking for, at the most maybe some more cranking on the t-bars. I've heard people say a 285/75 type tire will fit without rubbing so that's the size I'm thinking of going with, if not maybe something a little smaller not sure yet. Also on treads I've heard good things about the BFG and Firestone MT's but the problem I have with those is that up here in MA we get a lot of rain and snow and I've heard they can be quite slick in the wet stuff. So in those regards, the new BFG KM2's are looking better with the siping they have in the tread blocks. Anyways if anyone has any thoughts at all on these choices or maybe some opinions on other choices that would be great, and if anyone has a similarly equipped truck as mine and could post some links to their photos that would be great, thanks. In the end we might end up sticking with the stock rims and going towards a cheaper MT but either way the stock tires are going to be replaced at some point if the truck doesn't turn into a basket case .
