Which Calipers ?

I've been searching for a decent set of Calipers. I would like something just above OEM . I have a 98 4x4 that only has two calipers up front and having problems braking when loaded/pulling a trailer @ 4000 lbs.

So I'm replacing everything. So far I've routed new hard lines (complete) and replaced all 3 hoses. Carquest Blues pads and shoes (for the rear).

Replacing Both rear wheel cylinders Monday. Installed a new master cylinder.

My Booster passed testing/check valve good as well. E-Brakes were removed completely (don't use them and the cables were shot). Brembo Rotors are still like new.

So I'm down to the Calipers. I HAD two year old twin piston Doorman replacement Calipers. I want something a little better. Would a single piston caliper be more reliable ? How about Cardone's ?

I have to order something Monday - Any input would be appreciated..

Thanks brew

I dunno there brew, doing mine today with Carquest rebuilt Ford ones, mine were getting old, seizing, but never have had problems with regular ones. Actually, short of buying those Baer kits or Brembo with 14" rotors etc, I couldn't say I've seen ones other than Bosch (my OE ones right now) or Bendix which are going on in a few hours.

What's up mister?? You done yet??..- I'm thinking the brake lines and hoses were the majority of the problem. here. I bleed the system over and over at one point / no change in fluid color, plus she bleed sort goofy at times..

Braking was okay a little over a year ago, but nothing like it was when new.

Not screwing around this time, replacing everything - This has to work.

I guess I'm going to order the Cardone set. Only builds I could find that offer steel Pistons.. - Not Cheap, but maybe it pay off the next time hit the skidders ..

Good luck with your project, - Fedex dropped off those rear wheel cylinders a few minutes ago - Back to work!

BTW - I believe OEM is Bendix..?

OE's were Bosch on mine, replacements are 1 Bosch and one Bendix. Stupid bleeder screws on the new ones rounded off, what a bitch. Got er done, new dust shields, pads, rotors, calipers obviously and a good bleed ridding alot of old fluid out. It took 3/4 of a litre in replacement juice. Good luck on yours too, haven't taken it out to break it in (bad pun) but decided to drive the ol Galaxie around instead before I can't drive it no more. Supposed to snow tomorrow.

Sounds like your doin a good on her... - Yep , I ordered those Cardone's yesterday. - This has to work, I took a pic of the Master/ + plumbing under the hood that was replaced. The Calipers should be here Tuesday.

I hope we don't get to much of the White stuff while the trucks down -
