NOOB on wheels

I plan on getting my father wheels and tires for his 08 HD F150. the 22s are great and all, but for the winter and hunting season comming up, i want to get him something more aggressive with more of a sidewall. i was looking at 20s, but am not opposed to 18s. i just need to know what kind of backspacing i should be looking for with a 8.5-9.5 inch wide wheel.

also, any suggestions as far as tires and wheels?? they will be used from november to march or so. i want black for the wheels. i espcially like the pro comp series 7005 wheels.

if i go with an 18 or 20 inch wheel, what size tire should i be looking for? i would like it to be ~a 285 series tire, and around 32 inches in height. something like the nitto all terrain tire, or the cooper all terain tire(LTZ?)

any other recommendations would greatly be appreciated, especially where to buy!!

thanks,

john

edit - sorry if this is in the wrong sub forum!!!

I would recommend a 18" wheel. If you are not running any kind of lift (leveling kit) I would stick with a 31 to 32" tire. Stay away from 20's if hunting as you will not have much sidewall compared to a 18" wheel As for backspacing? I would go with a +18 offset. Check out my gallery, I think your ideal setup would be a leveling kit of 2 or 2.5" with 18x9 wheels running a 275/70/18 tire.

That is my setup.

thanks for the reply! as for a leveling kit, im actually thinking of going the other way, and buying 2 inch shackles since its a HD truck, and will see mostly street duty.

any other suggestions?

The Pro COmp wheels with some 285/60-18 (32x11.50) Nitto Terra Grapplers would be an awesome winter combo.

Another recommendation for you, I ran the 285/65 18 BFG A/T's through an upstate New York winter and had zero problems out of them. I had no issues with rubbing. They were excellent for tearing through snow drifts and pulling people out of ditches.
