5x135 bolt pattern.

Yesterday I tried to order Procomp 1069 wheels 17x9 in 5x135 pattern. They were not available and I was told that this pattern was discontinued. Managed to find wheel I like anyway, but is this becoming more common?

Yes, this is slowly becoming more common. the 97-02 Expy/Navi, and 97-03 F-150 were the only vehicles EVER to use the 5x 135 bolt pattern.

RIght, but hundreds and hundreds of thousands of these vehicles are on the roads. It doesn't make sense to discontinue this bolt pattern.

I changed my bolt pattern to 5x5.5 It's not an everyday driver though.

From what I hear from the guy's on here is that it's not at great way to go but so far so good for me.

This may just be wishful thinking, but is there any way that the axle shafts from the newer F150's could be interchanged (with a little bit of work) to fit the older F150s (thus changing the bolt pattern as well)?

im not so sure about that.

but on the other hand. i was looking though a web site (cant remeber which one) but they sold parts for the 8.8 31 spline axles. and the 8.8R axles.

anyways they had new axle shafts with 5x5.5 bolt pattern i didnt know this was around. or if it was just a mis print.

Somthing I've always wanted to do was get axles from a F-250 SUPER DUTY along with the front suspension and such and make a damn tough looking 02 screw 4by that looks tough as hell- might be a LOT of work and $$$$ to do it though!!

p.s just curious can it be done?

so what you are saying is that you want to take the d60 out of a F250 and leaf it in to your f150?

yes it can be done. Its a solid axle swap. You will need to make custom hangers or coil buckets. you will also need around 8-10" of lift to safely clear the front crossmember.

Then that leaves you with the rear. id go with a d60 rear axle or the sterlin 10.25.

i have plans on doing this to my truck but i just aquired a beater truck and im turnin that into my mudder.

ill post a pic of this done.

Is that his current wheel/tire setup? Seems like every time I see pictures of his truck, it's running something different.

I was wondering about the interchangability of the axel shafts and front hubs too...for instance in 2004 they were making both trucks, what are the odds that the shafts and hubs are the same just different bolt patterns. The only way to prove it one way or the other would be to put the two together and compare them. The way these companies try to cut costs one would think they would use the same part on both trucks and just change the pattern to reduce the tooling needed to convert over. That would be awesome if it was the case because that would be a easy swap out. The catch being the brake would have to be changed too to the newer ones...not that bigger brakes would be bad a thing. just my .02

personally, if I were to do a SAS, i would cut off that front crossmember completely, and weld something else on. keeping an IFS intended crossmember on a big SAS truck doesn't seem to make much sense to me...

well theres nothing really wrong with that crossmember. its there and its free. the whole frame on that truck has been sleeved so its alot stronger than ours.

If it was me and i had the time then i MIGHT cut it out and do something different.

It is true that Pro Comp has stopped production of any wheel with a 5X135 bolt pattern. Many others are following suit! It doesn't really matter if there are thousands of these trucks still on the road...no one is modifying them! Technology for our body style trucks is on the fast train out. The popularity of the post '04 trucks (my guess, mostly driven by the coil-over front end) have litterally killed the options and tech growth of stuff for us holding on for dear life.
