Can anyone give me some hands on advice on michelin m/s. I am looking to replace my Bridgestone revos AT 255/70/16(worn out at 35k). 85% of my driving is Highway but I am a bowhunter and head out to the boonies in the fall/ winter season. I'm not blazing new trails but using existing trails that are sloppy and wet before it freezes and snowy and hard after it freezes. I like the michelins because they seem to wear well (unlike my revos) but not sure if they are agressive enough. Thanks in advance

id also move up to a 265/75R16

 

The M/S has lots of siping (great for snow & icy roads) but isn't a very aggressive tread pattern for use on sloppy dirt trails.

I'd agree with the recommendation to check out the A/T2. Better tread for in the slop and looks like it'd still be a good tire for what you're doing with your truck.

My 97 also has 255/70-16s (30" diameter). Haven't decided for sure yet, but I think I'm going to go 265/75-16 (31.5"-32") on the next set for a little more ground clearance. I'd like to go 285/75-16 but that'd be a jump from 30" up to 33". With a 4.6L and 3.55 gears, I think I'd lose a lot of bottom end going that tall/wide.
How is your truck geared?

 

I too have the 3.55 gears. I tried the 265/75/16 experiment for 5k miles. Not soo good with my truck 4.6l. It shifted in and out of overdrive LOTS more. Plus the increase in height was enough to scrap the top of my topper in my parking ramp at work.
