e-brake adjuster

I'm replacing the whole works in the rear before winter since the trucks shakes something horrible with any pedal.

I'm not sure I understand how the self-adjustment thing works. I just can't see in my head, how the parts I'm looking at there on my truck, self adjust. Maybe someone can explain it, maybe not.

The real question I have is what direction do the adjuster gears go? Towards the front, rear, both or either? If both, which one is which? I didn't pay attention when I was rushing through the dissassembly stage last night.

Figured out the whole adjuster direction thing.

I put it all together and the adjuster is turned all the way in. The problem is the brake drags still, and not evenly. I applied the e-brake to hopefully center it or something, but the same uneven drag is there.

If I said I used drilled/slotted rotors and hawk pads would it help get some responses?

Nevermind, I'll figure it out on my own.

Well, if it's like mine, there is a little plug on the backing plate. Remove it, and you can access the adjuster. But, if yours was shaking (like mine) you need to pull the rotors and inspect. I found mine blew the axle seal contaminating the parking brake and pads with gear lube. The brakes were grabbing and very uneven. I am finishing mine up tonight..

New Rotors
New PB Shoes
New Pads
New Bearings
New Seals
Fresh Gear Lube
Painted Diff Cover
Polished Wheels

A the fun continues...
