New (street) tires for the '02 SCrew?

I've got over 70,000 miles on the Goodyear Eagle GTII's and I'm looking for a new set - got my monies worth out of them!!!
I switched from the stock 255/70R16 to the 285/60R18's 4 years ago. No real complaints about the Goodyears except I was looking for a lower profile tire when I bought the 18's. Speedo has been off about 5% also - so I was thinking about going with a 265/60 or a 285/50 this time. I started looking at the reviews on some of the brands and see complaints about tires getting "loud" after 10K or so, or wearing out after 20-30K.
I'm a "street" driver, rarely go off road. Go snow skiing a few times a year, live in Vegas - no foul weather - except the HEAT!
Is the howling tire complaints from car owners - I thought the only howling tires were the big off-roadies.
Kinda leaning toward Kumho's, BFG g-force, Cooper, Yoko's, or maybe Goodyears (again). Any "street" drivers have any recomendations or complaints about tires?

look into continental's high end tires......i got 22 in rims and had khumos and then got continentals and they blew the shiz out of my khumos....they are quiet as hell....they give me traction like ive never had before....and i couldnt even believe the ride difference....smooth as it can be......of course my khumos were 180 a pop and these continentals were 350 a piece ......the rim shop screwed up soooo bad...i paid for the khumos :P

I've had the Falken ST/Z04's on my last truck that were good, quite. Now I have the Yokohama Prada SpecX's on this truck, also good and quite. Yoko's were a little more expensive but not much.
