CarQuest Blue Ceramic Break Noise
CarQuest Blue Ceramic Break Noise
I have the CarQuest Blue Ceramics up front. I have about 12-15k on them, but since I first put them on, they've made a noise when I apply the foot, then when I let off. Not the whole time of breaking, just when the pressure goes up and down. And ONLY when moving.
The brakes work well, good enough stopping. No warping, wear is ok. I say the little dust is great, but JeremyGSU would disagree.
The noise is not a squeek, but almost like a grind noise. It's quite different. It seems like it is the pads sliding on the rails, or the pads compressing ( I realize the pads don't compress enough to make this noise) I can't say for sure what this deal is. What do you think it is?
Comments much appreciated. thx

Hard to say, new rotors when the pads replaced? turned old ones? Also, was anti-seize applied to all points needed? I'm looking to replace my fronts with the same to try them, I've done the rears and have nothing but good to say about them so we'll see.
Nothing done to the rotors when I changed the pads. I didn't grease the shims, so I think that is probably my problem. I need to get in there and grease them up before I have bigger problems.
I would definetely apply a coating of anti-sieze to anywhere the pad contacts things other than the friction surface obviously. The top and bottom tabs as well as the spines of them, cleaning off rust on the caliper and bracket. Not turning or replacing the rotors is often fine but can be a cause for a short while of this noise or feeling till it sets it's own groove.
