2" vs 2.5" AS leveling kit

Hey guys, i'm going to be buying an AS leveling kit for when i get my tires. I was looking on Ebay and they are going for $69.95. I've been reading up and searching on here a lot about AS leveling kits but i'm still a bit torn on which one to get, the 2" or the 2.5". From what i've read it seems that the 2" would be the better bet if a lot of towing is done. Personally i dont tow much, i have a small 12' outboard motor fishing boat that i take out to the lake here and there, thats all i tow. Would i be safer just ordering the 2" one of would the 2.5" one be a better bet?

Also i was wondering about the add a leaf for the back, anyone have any thoughts on those?

It just depends on the height you want and the tire size you want to run.

Also the '04's like I have sat up higher in the rear, so I needed a 2 1/2" to level it out. It's basicly the look you want to achive or the tires you are trying to squeeze on your truck!!

Thanks guys for patiently answering things i'm sure you've answered hundreds of times. Its appreciated.

I'm still uncertain if i'm going with 33's or 35's. But i am definetly sticking with my OEM 17" wheels for a while. And i also know i'm getting the BFG AT KO's. So i guess once i figure out what size i want to go with, i'll figure out what size leveling kit to get.

I noticed you have 315/70/17's on your truck, do you get any rubbing or anything? Mines not an 04, its an 06. So i'm honestly not sure if there would be a big difference, but figured i'd ask anyways.

Not with the wheels I have them on now, 8 inches wide with 5 1/2 inches of backspacing. About as close to stock ones that you can get. I did have slight rubbing even after trimming when I had them on 9 inch wide with 5 inches of backspacing wheels, nothing bad just aggravating. I've had this truck leveled 3 yrs. with no problems and have been running 35 or 33 inch tires for over 2 1/2 years. These 315's have over 25k miles and show very little wear so far.

I went with a 2.5" front AS leveling kit and a 3" AS block in the back and I can't be happier. I'm running 33" terra grapplers and 17" amercian racing predators. My advise would be a 2" without a bigger block in the back or 2.5" with a 3" block in the back. FYI: your stock truck should have a 2" block in the back.

This reminds me to get updated pics of my truck posted. I should be able to do it tomorrow.

My stock truck has a 2" block in the back? So what does that mean, that i could get the 2.5" AS leveling kit and not worry about putting anything in the back?

Sorry, just trying to wrap my head around all of this.

I had a 2.5" AS kit on my truck prior to lifting and I sat slightly higher in the front than the rear. You could almost tell by looking at it, but when measured it was about .5" taller in the front. I'd say go with a 2" and you'll be happy.

Hey Dan.....

first off, I didn't go with a normal "leveling kit".... I used Bilstein adjustable height shocks, which said they provided a 2" lift. Well, assuming this really is the same 2" lift you would get from a 2" spacer kit, let me put it this way.... after the 2" front lift, my truck rides flat level as it gets. Only problem is, I also tow a small aluminum boat {which here shortly will be 98% of the time the truck is being used} and I will usually have a good amount of fishing tackle, and 1 or 2 deep cycle batteries in the bed. And with the boat and tackle, my rear end drops 1/2" to 3/4" low in the rear :-(

Now, personally speaking, I don't care if my rear end is 1/2" higher, but 1/2" lower is not acceptable to me. So, even with only a 2" front lift, I'm still too high in the front, for my levling during normal use of the truck.
Here shortly, I plan to put in a 1" rear spacer kit. About $100 and a pretty easy install.

Peace,
Fish

Thats kind of a bummer. But i guess adding a spacer in the back would fix that.

Hmmm, so maybe i'd be safer just sticking with the 2" leveling kit then?
Or get the 2.5" kit and get something to lift the rear a bit as well?

Also, what kind of shop should i be looking into to have this installed, the Ford dealer i bought it from?
