Largest Tire

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 F150 extended Cab FX4. The factory tires are 255 70R17. I need new tires.

What is the largest tire I can use without getting any rubbing? I don't want to change the rim so this is just for the tire.

I prefer the look of wider tires. Are there downsides to a wider tire? Should I just stick with the stock tire?

Thanks

Tom

if your truck is a 4WD, with a leveling kit, you could fit a 35x12.50x17

RIght. YOu could also run 285/70-17's (33x11.50), 295/70-17's (34x12.00) or 305/65-17's (33x12.50) with our without a leveling kit.

My truck is completely stock.

So are you telling me that I could run a
255/70/17
265/70/17
275/70/17
or
285/70/17

?

Is there an advantage to staying at the 255?

Thanks

Tom

gas mileage would be your only advantage with the smaller tire. Less rolling resitance and less unsprung weight = better MPG's .

Thanks for the info.

I'm surprised I run a tire so much larger than the stock tire.
