Wheel size question-Roush

It is my understanding that the Roush truck wheels are all 20 x 8.5. I was looking at my wheels last night and they appear larger. I measured across the wheel from edge to edge and it's 10". The 50 series tire is 12" from sidewall to sidewall. I am assuming that the "8.5" would be for the inner measurement for the tire bead, but does the 10" outer measurement sound about right or could my wheel be wider? I bought these used with tires already mounted. They just seem wide for 8.5s.

Thanks for any info.

Your measurements sound right. Rim width is measured from inside of the beads.

Just went out and measured my 22x9.5 Boss 313 wheels with Yokohoma Parada Spec-X tires, size 305/40/22. The rims measured approximately 10.5" outer lip to outer lip, and the tires measured approximately 11.5" outer sidewall to outer sidewall.

So, our tires are about the same width, even though your rims ar an inch wider.

Yeah, I kind of noticed that. I think mine are just right. I hate it when the rim is almost the same width as the edge of the sidewall. Yours are even wider than that.

Yeah, when the tire is the same width as the wheel, looks too much like a solid rubber wheel. Can't be much roll and flex there either.

If I take a closeup pic like yours, I think I will cover the bumper!

They seem to have about the same amount outside the wheel well.
