BFG: AT or KM2? Locker or LS?

Just wanted to get some opinions on the 2. I currently have the BFG ATs and I like them and all but I want some more traction with the KM2s. I also dont want a loud-*** tire like my dads goodyear mt/rs were. What I really want to hear is some feedback from KM2 owners. Mileage? (i know theyre new) noise? performance? I'll be upsizing from 265s to 285 or to 305/65/17. I current have an open-diff and I am either installing a stock LS i have or buying a locker of some sort. Just wanted to get some input. I've been stuck too many times with this open-diff and am tired of it.

I dont do serious wheelin as I am basically a lil higher than stock height. I just wanna get it done when I need to.

Any input would be appreciated

The stock LS really isnt that bad, if you already have one just put that in (save you 600 bucks or so from buying a locker).

Im getting KM2s too here pretty soon, im excited.

I'm going to run 305/65/17 (33x12) on a 17x9 rim. But i am also installing a 4" suspension lift (rancho).

For your truck, without a lift and with stock rims, i suggest getting a 285/70/17 (33x11) tire. Since you are already running that same size, it should be perfect for you.

The BFG M/T KM2's are definately next on the list, but I've got a while. My BFG A/T's have less than 6,000 miles.

I have an open diff as well and am saving up for a Detroit Locker for the rear...

KM2s without a doubt. If you were going to spend money on a locker, get the Tru Trac. It's great for a daily driver and amazing offroad. If you don't do a ton of offroading, stick with the stock limited slip differential.

Depending on the price, Im thinking about going to 305/65/17.

4wd150 - I see you have the same wheels as myself, do you just have the t-bars cranked with those 285s? I wish bfg made a 295/70 or a 305/70. Oh well.

Yea I bought the LS on ebay like a year ago and now that I want to gear up I was exploring my options. But yea i'll stick with the stock LS then.

Do any of you have front lockers?

Since you have IFS, a front locker really isnt a good idea. Your CV joints are going to be put under a ton of stress. The front open is actually okay, it shifts back and forth between left and right rapidly when slipping (like in mud), so in 4x4 you actually get a lot more traction then you would think. I have open front, LS rear, and i go lots of places you wouldn't think stock height trucks could (hunting trips and such). You shouldn't need 2 lockers to get to anywhere you'd want to take that pretty truck. Leaves the dual lockers to an old carburated toy that you can beat up.

A rear LS and new mud tires will make you tons more capable than you are now, try that first.

Yea I agree with you on that, KM2 and LS should do the trick for me.

I was curious about the front lockers cause my friend has a 06 power wagon. He said it has front and rear lockers when in 4-low meanwhile he gets stuck more than most would think.

Those Dodges also have straight front axles, which are fine with lockers. IFS isnt designed for that kind of stress.
