Rotating tires... What's wrong with this ?
Personally speaking......
it appears to me that "everybody rotates their tires really often".... because "everybody rotates their tires really often".
Of course it's hard for me to argue that my might tires "might have" lasted a little longer, had I rotated them a lot more often than I do, but again they might not have. Plus the fact that I have always gotten the miles that the tire manufacturers claimed, and I'm totally okay with that.
Add to this the fact that I haven't really had any major tire wear problems in the past, and I'd really just need a stronger argument to make me want to go through the trouble of frequent rotations.
Please don't let it bother you that I won't "follow the crowd" on this one. Pretty typical of me to be out in left field somewhere :-) Just like with tuners..... (the stinking can of worms that they are :-)

So what exactly is the point of this topic? So far the only thing going on is you bragging about how you don't rotate your tires and it works fine?
You ASKED in the OP why tires should be rotated, but when ALL of the best reasons are given you simply dismiss them and keep insisting it is a waste.

No kidding Lumadar. Pretty ridiculous. I guess he wanted to believe that other people did it like himself and it'd reassure him. Who knows ... I know that my tires would be bald in 10,000 miles without any rotation.

Hillbilly, yes ! I finally got my F150 a few days ago :-)
Got my step bars put on yesterday, "most of" my dual Magnaflow exhaust today (just the extension pipes and 3 1/2" tips tomorrow).
SnugtopSL tomorrow morning. Plus my window tinting tomorrow afternoon.
Billet grilles and Hella headlights next week, as soon as they come in.

To answer your question about the purpose of my post; I just see tire rotations to be one of those things that such a huge majority of the people do, that every once in a while, I like to give people a chance to "possibly" tell me something about the subject, which I haven't heard, or considered.
Bottom line, I just don't believe that rotating the tires really often, will gain you many, if any miles in the end. I've never been one to believe "anything" just because a bunch of people said so.
But hey now, if you guys think I'm far left about this subject (or just a complete idiot ;-) I was talking to a buddy earlier who takes it one step farther; He never does ANY rotations ! So I asked him, "So dude, what do you do when your fronts are gone, and your rears still have 40% left ? He said simply, "I get two new tires for the front" ! Uhhh... Okay :-)
For me, new tires are something to get a little bit excited about.... kind of time for a mini-celebration. Only getting 2 new ones would not quite cut it for me :-)
Anyway again, please don't mind me.
I certainly don't think that rotating your tires can hurt anything, unless your paying any substantial amount to get it done.

i rotate every oil change because i religiously take care of my truck and i do everything on time or earlier.i dont care what the hell everyone else does with their stuff.personally,they can drive their trucks off of a cliff.

my maintanance intervals are set by me.if you dont want to rotate when every manufacturer on earth recommends it then dont.you asked and i guess you didnt like what we had to say.its your ride man,do what you want.being your truck is brand new why are you asking about rotating tires already?dont take everything the wrong way.

hey Mitch, I wish ! I'm probably one of the poorest guys on the forum. I fish too much, and don't work enough :-) I've just found that 1 rotation during the life of the tire, at just the right time, lets my tires roll at least the full rated tread life, if not a little more.
Italiano, please understand that I'm only an "oddball whacko" when it comes to tire rotations {okay well, and a bunch of other things that were never mentioned in this thread :-). With oil changes, I'm extreme in the other direction. I change my oil every 3K, religiously.... sometimes even 2800 miles.... Even though with many newer vehicles, the manufacturer recommends oil changes at anywhere from 3750 to 7500 miles.

Trust me when I say rotate your tires regularly, you WILL get more tread life out of them
Well I do have to admit one fact.....
I think their is 1 exception to what I'm saying.
If you have something wrong with your vehicle, like in the suspension, or the alignment.
Example; A buddy of my has a Ford Bronco. I think it's about a 93', and it hasn't been wrecked or anything... just all of the front end suspension and alignment parts are worn out. Well, this caused his front tires to 'cup' so badly, that he ended up having to replace them. Our mechanic friend told him, that had he rotated them often, that probably would not have happened. I 'reluctantly' have to agree. Because if he had, the tires on the front which were just starting to cup, would get worn back even, while on the back. Then, the ones which were on the front now, and starting to cup themselves, would get swapped back again, and so on.
So yes, I think if you have something wrong with your vehicle (or its just worn out) rotating might help.
Otherwise, I just think the whole world is crazy ! ;-) LOL
