New All Terrain
no kidding - some of us are just pissy that they've worked too much OT this week and can't wait for their fishing vaction to start (t-minus 17 hrs!)
Dude !
Now your talking !
I sold my boat towing truck 2 months ago, thinking I would have a new F150 shortly thereafter. Instead, it took 2 freaking months ! I don't think I've went without fishing for 2 months straight, in my adult life ! ... nor my childhood either, now that I think about it. But I finally got my brand new F150 last night :-)
I might just have to spend several of my off days, doing all of the mods.... but I HAVE to get on the water soon, before I go freaking crazy !
And this Fall when it starts to cool off, it's freaking ON !!! :-)
Stick a monster ;-)
Peace,
Fish

Hey Cope.....
Sturgeon are really just big, docile, mud-suckers :-) {great fighters on a rod and reel though !}
But on the other hand, when you get a 300 lb fish up to the boat, and all you can see is its head and shoulders, while the rest of it disapeers off into the murky depths..... and your reaching down and grabbing ahold of this prehistoric looking monster....
Put it this way, I can't tell you that the thought didn't cross my mind > "What the hell am I doing here ? This freaking fish is bigger than I am" ! Then, when I finally did get a grip on it, I was wondering, "Okay, who has ahold of who here" ? :-) Great memories though :-)
Peace,
Fish
PS, Sorry to get off topic.... Just mention fishing, and see what happens ? :-)

I dont think it was lake stureon but instead gulf or atlantic sturgeon.
But all of the incidents were the same people boating along when all of a sudden the large fish came airborne and landed on someone!
Its happend very often and has resulted in death

Trust me im not saying the fish is trying to kill people but man i really dont think they are all that docile. Question is how fast would a 150 pound fish be moving to throw it self high enough to make it into a boat!
Ill see if i can find the article its really intresting!
Well since you bring this up......
in the last few years, we have had 2 people seriously injured.... one nearly died, after hitting jumping Sturgeon, while riding jet skis !
Also, I know of a friend of a friend, who after fishing for Sturgeon all day, without a bite, was running back to the ramp in one of those open bowed fish and ski type of boats, at about 50 mph, when a Sturgeon (aprox 75 lbs) jumped straight up in front of him ! It came straight over the bow, smashed his windshield, and as he put his arm up in front of his face (out of natural reflex) it broke his arm, and threw him back the length of his boat, slamming him into the transom !
Thank God he didn't go out of the boat.... with a broken arm, in the middle of the bay (and like a dum-bass) without a life jacket ! As he would have watched his boat leaving him, then surely drowned !
Needless to say, he was pretty stunned.... and pissed about his windshield.... and having to go the hospital.... But he did turn back around to get the dead, floating Sturgeon though :-) Not an entirely bad trip I guess :-)
