How do these go on?

So, ive found out the part that i need to put on to secure my pads to the caliper, but i dont see how the hell it goes on.....Do i clip in onto the caliper first, or do i spring them down into the tabs on the pads first? Heres a picture of what im talking about.

I read your other post and wasn’t too sure what you were talking about. The pic is perfect!! You install those on the caliper first. There should be a small notch in the caliper where the tabs from the hardware sit. If it doesn’t fit you might need to persuade it with a small screwdriver. I couldn’t find any specific to a f150 but they are all the same. Here is what it should look like…

Make sure to use a small amount of caliper grease where there is any metal on metal contact (between caliper and brake pad backing plate / slide pins). Also use disc brake quite on the brake pad backings. Do everything once so you don’t need to pull it apart again. Good luck…

Thanks for the info. So how do you get the caliper onto the pads with the hardware on the caliper you have in the picture?

Munoxide have you figured it out yet? What year truck are you installing these brakes on?

That piece of metal is very thin and just acts as a spring to keep the pads from jumping. The caliper goes on the same you had it on with out the hardware. This metal spring shouldn’t interfere with the installation of the caliper at all you might just need to apply a little more pressure to get it on. Make sure the slider in the caliper bracket where you bolt the caliper to isnt interfering causing the caliper not to fit. If so just push it in and it will go on properly.

Hope this answers your question...
John
