22" Wheels / Tires

22" Rims and Tires

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I hope you guys can help me out.

I just ordered 22" Liquidmetal Magma Rims (Charcoal Mirror Dark Gray finish with mirror like machined face) and Falken Ziex S/TZ-04 tires (285/45/22).

Can anyone give me some reviews on either the tires or wheels. I've heard mostly good thing on the wheels, but I've heard some mixed reviews on the tires (balancing / wear issues, etc).

FYI - They're going on an '05 FX4 (Blue/Dark Gray) replacing stock 255/70/17 wheels and tires.

Any comments/thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I have the same tires on my Expy and I love them. Personally, I would have went with a larger size, unless you plan on lowering the truck of course.

the wheels should be fine, i really havent heard anything bad about any name brand wheel, especially liquid metal.

the tires as wandell said are pretty good.

I have had mine for about 20k and i have a good amount of tread left.
They wear fine and they are pretty sticky, i can only get them to spin if im trying really hard and its been raining. I love the tire, my coworker went out and bought a full set for his tahoe after he saw mine, he used to run falkens on his old saleen mustang and when he saw these tires he loved them.

And i have to agree that you go with a larger sidewall. I got 285 40s and i really wish i would have went with a 45 series as they make the ride a little harsh sometimes. but mines only a 2wd and will be lowered at some point.
For your 4wd i would definintely get a larger sidewall to fill that wheel well gap. More sidewall will give you a better ride as well.

EDIT
BTW those grey wheels should look kick **** with the dark grey lower two tone on your truck! post up pics when you get them on

Thanks for the relply. I went witht eh 285/45/22. Discount Tire Direct would only guarantee up to a 295/45/22 would fit - of which they didn't even have any in stock.
Thanks for the reply.
