Question about leveling kit
Question about leveling kit
I am a new member to f150online.com so please bear with me. I just had a 2 inch leveling kit placed on my '04 F150 supercrew 4WD because I was told that I had to in order to get the new wheels and tires that I wanted to put on. I just put on Veloche Verzio 940 20" wheels with Nitto Grappler 305/50/20 tires. The problem is that I don't think I like the level look, in fact it almost looks like the front end is sitting higher then the back. My question is can I have the 305/50/20's without the leveling kit? To me it looks like it won't rub. Any help would be appreciated.
Ya' know bdjasper.....
A few thoughts cross my mind about this.
First off, have you actually broke out a tape measure, and measured the space between the top center lip of your wheel well, and the ground, to see if you are actually higher in the front, than in the back (rather than just 'looking like it') ???
If you were just a touch higher in the front, it might be easier to bump the rear end up just 1/2" or something.
The other thing though, is that if it measures out okay, maybe you just need to give yourself a few days to get used to the new level look ?
Anyway, I'm going to be leveling my F150 right from brand new, as soon as I get it. But I'm going with Bilstein 5100 adjustable height shocks, which are adjustable from a 0" to 2" lift. Not only will I be able to get just the lift I need, but I'm told these shocks are WAAAY better than the factory Ford shocks anyway. So, kind of two birds with one stone. Kind of pricey though.... $300 a pair... then install... and an alignment is recommended afterwards (of course an alignment is a good idea after any leveling.... especially if your going to then put on some nice {expensive} aftermarket tires and wheels !
Peace,
Fish

Hey Fish,
Thanks for the info. I went and measured from the ground to the middle of the wheel well and I found that the front is 40" and the rear is 39 1/2". So I was right the front is higher than the back. It is just my opinion but I hate the look of a vehicle with the *** end that is lower than the nose. This really upsets me due to the amount of money that I spent for this set-up.
I called t he shop that installed it and they are suggesting a 1" block for the rear axel (of couse this will cost me more money). This will put the nose 1/2" lower than the rear. Has anyone eaver heard of this problem before?

The front should settle a bit, make sure your allignment is correct, and like Wandell said, you can go with a bigger block in the back. Sounds like a 3" block would level you out, that is replace the factory block with the 3" block.
