What do you mean by wouldn't fit? Were the lugs too short to tighten down or were they too small to screw onto the studs?

the lugs were the right diameter for the studs but i think the threads on them were wrong-i think my truck has metric threaded studs and the lugs i purchased were standard threads-and they were too short for the lugs as well- went to a 4wheel drive shop after work 2day-they told me i needed 14mm x 2.0 threads, does this seem correct? anybody feel free to chime in

That sounds right. I bet you were just given the wrong lugs.

During 2001 Ford made several changes to the Screws during the model year. First they added head rests to the rear seats and then they added completely different seats front and rear. The late production, Gereration III models like mine are basically identical to the 2002 model Screws.

No. The Gen I, Gen II and Gen III refer to changes during the 2001 model year only.
