tire sizes?

tire sizes?

ok this may sound stupid but i get how the tire sizes work for the most part like i have 265/70r/17's and i get all those kinds...but then it gets to be like 315 or w/e i have no idea what that means...anybody have the answer for me so i know how to find tires for my pickup and make the appropriate choice...

here's what i use at work... just plug the sizes in and it will convert it for you
