drum to disc conversion??
drum to disc conversion??
are there any drum to disc conversions available for my 98 2wd f150??? the rear axle seal is leaking and gumming up the drums causing the truck to hop when i slow down.. im jsut sick of these drums.. i want to swap over to discs all around.. any help would be appreciated..
There's lots of ideas for this but you pretty much have 2 choices. Go with a full conversion kit which is $$$$ or try to find a rear end from an Explorer since they came with disc. Not sure which year Explorer, there may be other models that have the same rear with disc, but the Explorer is the only one I can think of.
This is one site that has conversion kits, but $$$

I'm getting my front discs and pads from these guys--GREAT prices!! They also have a "Big Brake Kit" you might want to check out.

Drilled/slotted rotors for my '97 F-150 (front) along with a full set of pads for those rotors: $129.93
These guys are definitely worth checking out!!

shush.. lol i called 2 yards yesterday one didnt have any axle/rearends and the other one wanted 600 for a the complete rear end , disc to disc.. boo to that.. i might end up just buying the brackets to adapt the rear end to discs.. too bad im a cheap *** .. wish i could find it for cheaper than like 300..
Measure your backing plate bolt pattern
I pulled a complete disk brake setup from a Expedition. Too bad my 97 F150 has a different backing plate bolt pattern! Maybe it's the same as yours?
If interested measure the pattern and email me, PM me...

Im pretty sure ours are the same.. my uncle has a 99 f150 with the rear discs and i looked under his truck and the axle mounting flange where all the brake hardware bolts too is different then my 98s.. soo by going off of just that, im assuming u cant just swap a disc setup from a truck that came with discs to a truck that came with drums.. sucks i know.. thats why i think the only answer is to either buy those swap brackets posted earlier or buy an entire rearend that has the discs..
