Balancing Problem

Just put on a new set of black Ultra wheels and have been to 4 different shops to try and get them balanced. Problem is they cant put any weights on the front of the wheel. They can put stick ons but they ruin the looks of the wheels. The stockers ran smooth as silk. Used the same tires. Anyone have any experience with this??Or a solution?? The way it is now I'll either keep the wheels and the good looks or switch back and have a smoother ride.

What exactly do you mean by "they can't put weights on the front of the wheel"?

Here's a picture where they stuck some weight on my wheel, you really can't see them unless you've bent down and are looking into the wheels.

If they really bother you, paint the weights black!

There is no other solution I know of. If the wheel is unbalanced, you need to either add or take away weight from somewhere...

The weights were not thin enough to clear the caliper. The only other area to put them would be in sight. 1 guy did suggest the paint em deal. That maybe my only way out if I'm gonna keep the wheels. I really like the look of the Ultra wheels. I stayed with the stock size 17's to keep my mpg's and its came back to bite me.

Ah, gotcha! Thats tough man, I think I'd probably jump to the 18" wheels and forget about it. You won't lose much, if any, MPG by going from stock 17" to aftermarket 18", just don't go throwing 35" tires and you should be fine.

What kind of MPGs are you getting currently?

I don't know. I know a few members at FTW with Super Duty trucks on huge tires use some of these systems. I don't know a lot about them. I was hoping one of our site sponsors would chim in on this.

never heard of dyna beads but alot of customers where i work use equal, wich is a powder bag you put in the tire when you are mounting it, they have worked good for me in the past and i just did a friend of mines chevy with 38's and i worked good on them, it is safe for the tire pressure switch too. the only kicker is it is like 6bucks a bag and 35's or bigger your gonna need 2 per tire

The beads are not supposed to clump with moisture buildup like the powder. I went ahead and ordered today so I'm gonna find out pretty soon if they work. Have had a few give em a good rep. Bike shop near here uses them all the time and say they work great for them.
