help with drum...

help with drum...

hi,
where my e-brake cable is going to my drivers side drum it must have got caught up and is loose. its leaking pretty bad. is there a quick fix i can do or just leave it. the brakes have always been kinda mushy so they still are any help to what i should do ill be happy.

brake fluid leak???? dont drive it. pull off the wheel and investigate. sounds like it could be a bad wheel cylinder.

it may be brake fluid but it seemed darker and thicker than brake fluid. ill pull off the wheel and check it out.

can you explain better or take some pictures??? There is no fluid (other than lubricating oil perhaps) in the e-brake cable.

Unless perhaps the leak is in your wheel cylinder and the fluid is dripping down on the cable? If that is the case you will need to replace the seals, or the entire wheel cylinder. Or if you get lucky, its just a loose fitting that you can tighten... but I wouldn't expect that to be the case.

it can only be 2 things brake fluid or rear end oil.

i popped off the cover to my drum, and the leak was diff fluid coming out from behind the bolts that plate with the lugs on it. what seal is there and is it hard to fix. do i have to pull the whole drum off or what

gonna have to pull the axle out ..which means rear end cover has to come off. shouldnt have to take drum apart.you should do both wheels. the seals are only about 20$ each. get a haynes manual they explain that in more detail.
