Need Help with a change
Hi all, I'm hoping some of you can help as it seems this can get a bit confusing.
I have a 05 scab 4x4 with stock 235/75/R17 wheels/tires. These small tires and nasty looking grey wheels look horrible inside that large wheel well. I would like to change this out and I'm looking for the easiest way to fill up some of that space with a more aggessive looking tire if possible and a new wheel it it's not too much of a pia. I like the stance of the truck so I'm not looking to lift/lower or cut anything if possible. Do any of you have any suggestions for the easy way to do this, if there is such thing? And, also, will it rub, will I have to get the computer reflashed etc.... Sorry, I'm not too versed on these things. Thanks so much. Skippy

Alright, yeah you definitely need to fill those wheel wells on up......you will be amazed at how much better your truck will look. I would go with either a 17x9 or 18x9 (around 5.5'' backspacing) rim with some 285/70/17 or 285/65/18 tire. That would get your wheel wells filled up and would be a great size and stance for your truck without any modifications.
I'd keep it simple. 17x8 wheel with 5 1/2 inches of backspacing and put on some 285x70 BFG or 295x70 Nitto all-terrain tires. These should clear on a 4x4 truck stock and look great, they will be tucked in the wheelwell's and give you a little more clearance in the front. Just my 2 cent's.
Thanks guys for your help with this. I owe ya. I don't know if most buy on line or local, but if you know of some good on line places to buy wheels/tires, for my suggested arrangment, it would be appreciated. Thanks again, Skip
