I have heard that some have had problems with the exhaust melting the tire or something, but it may have been with dual exhaust.

A 35 inch tire will fit in the oem location on the 97-03's. However, some aftermarket exhaust can interfere.

if not, go back to any exhaust shop, mount the tire in the spare location so that they can see where they will have to rebend pipe to "make" it work.
