OEM wheels color mod?
OEM wheels color mod?
Hey all, I planned on re finishing my OEM xlt alloys, just because I like them and they have been pitted for some time now. Plan to strip and sand/polish them to brand new and reclear with a nice coat or top quality wheel clear coat.
My question is, would it look better to just re finish them with the natural polished alloy finish (still looks nice)
OR to take the time to paint the 3 large and 3 small "holes" linings black to match the color trim on my truck? Or would that be a dumb idea and not make much of an "eye catcher"?
Thanks for the input!

COuld anyone do a possible photoshop? I'm trying to picture it in my mind...but just not cuttin it lol!
Thanks Wandell, aircraft stripper will allow me to remove all the factory clear (or whats left of it) and remove the silver paint...or I can just paint over it with some gloss black paint.
Gonna be some work but well worth it eh?
Thanks!

Yeah I can snap a photo of the wheels better, and I want the 3 smaller and 3 larger hole's backgrounds to be black, not silver, to see if it would match my trim.
Zacknolden, what you mean by that? Yeah shes been off road quite a few times, that was after a detailing in the summer after she was mine!

I stripped a set of OEM Trans Am wheels in the 80's to do a similar mod. The clear came off easily with stripper. The colored backgrounds were another story. I never got it all off and wound up painting over the original color.

While we're on the topic, any paint and clear coat brand names I should hunt for to use?
