35'' BFG AT KO Rubbing Issues?

Hello. I have an 03 fx4 scab sitting on 35x12.50xR17 BFG AT KO's with the t-bars cranked up, and a 3'' pa body lift. i am using the stock 17'' fx4 wheels. on most terrain, my tires do not rub, even at full lock. however, on roads with certain slopes, they do rub at full lock. are there any remedies to this, aside wider wheels or a suspension lift? will this occasional rubbing hurt my tires any, aside the ungodly sound and feel? i'm open to everyone's suggestions here, so speak up.

I ***-u-me they are rubbing on the frame? If so, yes wider wheels. And as long as you aren't holding them at lock and letting them just RUB, it shouldn't hurt anything

If they rub on the frame, wider wheels will probably be your only remedy. If they are rubbing on the gap guards, just drill a couple of holes through the gap guards and try to zip tie them as close to the frame as possible. This is what I did and have no rubbing issues at all, even when off roading. I'm running 315/75/16s...

The occasional small amount of rubbing won't hurt anything, it doesn't sound good though that's for sure. Good luck.

yes, they are rubbing on the frame, but it is only at full lock at weird slopes. wider wheels aren't the answer right now, as money is tight. however, i can live with this, as i said, it's only very occasional, and i could easily teach myself how to drive w/o rubbing them.

that said, are there any particular offset values in wheels i should look for? i don't mind my tires sticking out more, i actually like the look.

I'd go with a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing.

thanks, wandell! what sites have good wheels like these in a 17''? tire rack seems to focus mostly on the bling factor, seems they only have 18''+.

I'm gonna be in the market for wheels soon too,and I am having the same trouble finding 17x9 or 17x10 wheels. But maybe someone here can steer us both in the right direction.

I'd look at the Eagle Alloy, Pro Comp, KMC and Mickey Thompson wheels.

how would a 17x9 do? how wide are the stock fx4 wheels that i am running by comparison? i am really leaning towards the helo max 6', which come in a 17x9. however, if i do fork over the money for the wheels, i want to be rid of rubbing ALTOGETHER, so your guys' help is greatly appreciated.

wandell, do you think that i could get by with a 9in wheel though, and eliminate my rubbing or should i go with a 10in. It just seems as though it is harder to find a 17x10 than a 17x9.

The 9 inch wide wheels would probably eliminate the rubbing on the frame.
