ProComp All Terrains vs. Maxxis Buckshot
ProComp All Terrains vs. Maxxis Buckshot
I can get both for a really good price....I don't do any hardcore offroading, so I'll be mainly on dirt roads and paved roads. The Buckshots I can get a little cheaper, but I'm wondering how Mud Terrains compare to All Terrains. Do they make more noise, what are their road manners, how do they do in the rain, how do they perform on dry pavement? I guess the big thing is, if I'm not a hardcore offroading type, will the mud terrains work for me or should I just stick with the all terrains?
i have heard good things about both tires. however i would lean toward the ATs for a couple reasons. they are going to be better in rain. i'v driven many different sets of mudders in rain before and i felt like i had no control. on dry pavement the ATs will handle better as well. if your not going to be working in mud or wheelin every weekend i would stick with ATs.

I can't speak a ton the Pro Comps but I'm running Buckshots right now, 305/75/16s... I love them but if you aren't doing any off roading, or will rarely do any, ATs are probably your best bet.
I've had the buckshots for about 20K miles and as long as they are rotated frequently, they wear really really well. Plus I love the looks of them. They handle great in the snow and rain and aren't too loud. However, you would probably get more wear out of the Pro Comp ATs. I primarily got the buckshots because of looks and off roading. But I get all my tires at cost and have the resources to rotate them frequently, so for me it was the look that sold me more than anything. They are great tires and I'll probably get another set of the same eventually.
Also, you could look at Maxxis Bighorns ATs if you want. They are great tires also if you want to stick with an AT.
jk007--I thought the Bighorns were still a MT?

i have procomp a/t 305/70/r16s on my truck and there great. Very quiet, I've had them on for about 2 years now and they still look new. I expect quite a bit of miles out of them. Check my gallery if you want to see any pics.
Good luck

Some food for thought on pro comp A/ts, The regular a/t has a 50k treadwear warranty. The X/at has a 40,000 treadwear warranty.
These tires look like junk in pictures. you have to see them in person. They look like a cross between a BFG mudder and an A/t. They look alot meaner in person. As far as treadwear, I have 10k on mine and can barely tell. As for manners, i have 35x13.5's, you can hear them on the highway. They howl a little bit at about 45-55. It is by no means annoying, I think it sounds good. At interstate speeds they are silent. AS far as traction, great on dry pavement, rain is not a problem at all, snow is pretty good, as far as mud, they seem to hold up pretty good. I have mudded them hard yet, just mild stuff getting to and from the hunting stand.
I would recommend them

I had 35" pro comps on my truck and My dad has 275/75 buckshots on his. Mine rode alot quieter and just felt better overall. The buckshots were pretty cheap I think he paid $750 mounted at a local tire shop. Either way you cant go wrong but If I had to do it all over again I would stick w/ the pro comps
I have a set of 35x12.50 Pro Comp Xtreme AT's on my truck and absolutely love them. As silverfx4 already mentioned, pictures of these tires do not do them justice at all. They weren't my first choice (Nitto Terra Grapplers were), but when I had my lift installed the shop owner had a set of the Pro Comps on his truck, I took one look at them and was sold. These tires are very aggressive looking yet are very quiet on the roads. I've had my tires on the truck for over 13k miles now and they show little to absolutely no wear at all. With proper care and rotation I think I'll easily pass the 40k miles these tires are rated for.
