Lug Nuts aftermarket wheels Wandell please help

I have a 2004 with 18x9 Moto Metal 951's with 4.5" backspace

So I ordered some Mcgard lifetime lug nuts, but I think I got the wrong style. The ones I got are cone style and I guess I need conical acorn style lug nuts. Apparently using the cone style on my wheels can cause the lug nuts to back-off over time. I can't find them in the 14mm x 2" size in the conical seat style.

I am initiating the return of the lugs I just ordered, but what kind of lug nuts should I be looking for. I want to get some good lug nuts that the chrome won't chip and rust off. Please let me know what you think.

I figure this is a question Wandel probably knows the answer to Hopefully, lol

Thanks for the help.

When I got my rims, my Uncle had ordered the wrong lugs also (he owns a tire shop). He lives an hour and a half away. We got the whole truck lifted and went to put the new tires on and were like

Anyway, I went to discount tire and they had the correct ones in stock. I knew which ones I needed so if you aren't sure, throw the new rim & tire in your bed and hit them up. They or Belle Tire will probably have what you need. They'll probably even throw it up on the lift and put your new tires on. I think all the lugs ran me $30, with locks.

Just a thought.

I always order an "installation kit" (lugnuts and valve stems) with wheels from the same manufacturer. That way I feel pretty certain I'm getting the correct lugs. I'd e-mail Moto Metal and see what lugs they recommend.

yea, when I bought the wheels I got the cheap installation kit. Now I need new better lug nuts. And Moto Metal has no contanct info on their site, or I would have done so already. They just say to contact you local dealer, but then the dealer wants me to buy the lugs from them at an overpriced price, and half the time they don't know what they are talking about.

I figured out that I need to get conical "acorn" or "bulge" style lugs. It looks like Gorilla makes this style in a m14x2, but not Mcgard, so I will have to go with them I guess. Tomorrow I am going to call tomswheelz again and they are going to see what they have for lifetime chrome lugs.

Word of advice, if the retailer offers you upgraded lugs when you buy your wheels. Take the offer. I wish I would have now.

Thanks for the input everyone
