Stuck caliper

Went to NAPA today to get a new caliper and flex hose. They had the caliper but gave me the wrong hose. I brought it back and they searched through the comp./books and made calls. They could not find the part # for the caliper hose. I left there and went to the dealer but got there after they were closed. Is this a dealer only part? I've searched online at some parts dealers and can only come up with the same hose that NAPA had.
Also I want to make sure I am doing this right, If I crack open the bleeder valve on the caliper and am able to compress the piston then it is the hose and not the whole caliper. If I still cannot compress the piston then I should replace both?

I don't see why you'd open the bleeder valve to check. You should be able to check w/o opening the bleeder valve.

Yeah your doing it the right way. Its actually better to open the bleeder and then compress the piston because you don’t want any crap going up near the abs or master. So if you open the bleeder the crap will come out of the caliper instead of going upstream. No one usually does that but if the fluid is really old I recommend that.

IF you open the bleeder and the fluid comes out when you compress the piston then yes the caliper is good but if not it could be anything from the brake line to the master.

On the caliper, I was able to get my caliper and hose from autozone but that was 3 years ago.

I opened the bleeder screw and was still unable to compress the piston. So I replaced the line and the caliper, the caliper I got NAPA, 69.00 with tax, the line I had to get from the dealer and you can't get just the 6 inch rubber hose for that side(passenger) you have to replace the whole line.$58.00 I also flushed the fluid and replaced with new stuff. So far so good, I hope that solves the problem.
