Emergency Brake Question for the Experts
Hi Everyone,
Ride is a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.4 Lariat with 72k. In planning stage overhaul of rotors (bembo) pads (carquest) and all new hardware...caliper bolts, caliper bracket bolts, anti rattle clips, e brake shoes, springs, adjuster for ebrake, etc, etc. At carquest today, looked at the ebrake shoes and was surprised to see that there was 2 sets of shoes...4total shoes for $55.00. Called the dealer and was told that in fact there is a set of shoes on each rear wheel. I ordered and purchased all the hardware at the Ford dealership and the parts guy at the dealership only ordered 1 set of springs...upper and lower for 1 side. I purchased the Chilton Ford repair manual for 1997-2003 pick ups and in the brake section for repair of the ebrake theyonly mention the drivers side. What gives ??? For those of you who have done this maintenance, please give me a heads up as to what to expect. Sounds to me like I have to go back to the dealership and order a second set of springs and adjuster. Thanks in advance for your replies. T

I can't remember for sure but I think when I ordered my hardware kit for the e-brakes, it was one bag per side, clips, springs etc, adjusters too I think. Ya, the shoes look like a small drum brake assembly. Carquest ones I think are made by AC Delco too, mine were. All in all, it's a good overhaul to do, I'm doing mine soon, just rear pads and an e-brake freshen up (anti-sieze the pivoting hook that the e-brake cable hooks to). I'm pretty good at this stuff so any questions feel free to ask, the rears are easy as hell, fronts need more little stuff, but still easy.
