I want to get others opinions.

I have a 2004 XLT 4X4 v8 5.4 with the stock Han**** tires 235/75r/17.

I have about 30k and it is time to replace. My speedo has always read a little high. 2 or 3 mphs higher than I am going. Based upon the output from

I think that I should get the 245/70/17. In looking around Costco has the BFG long trails for around $128. Any opinions on these or would you recommend something else.

 

Dont Get The Long Trails They Are Crap!!! My Uncle Had Those On His 99 And One Blew Out At 40mph And They Totaled His Truck-bfg Makes Some Good Tires But Those Are Not One Of Them!!!!!!

I am just looking to replace tires with a stock size and would like to get the best for the money. All highway no off road. I want a smooth quiet ride and a tire that gives good mileage.

Did you check .oO(265/70-17)Oo. or 285/70-17 to fit? Believe that is the stock fit.
Would personally not use BFG long trails and go for BFG Radial All Terrain T/A KO's. They nice, quiet, and after 10,000 miles almost now wear. (Different for everyone of course)

 

I agree. I'd also look at the Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo AT's and Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos.

 

BFG also makes a Rugged Trail that is pretty nice. Thats what i had on my 90 Ranger for its last couple years of life.

 

If you are looking for a stock size or very close to stock size, quiet, smooth riding tire for mostly street driving then i would be looking at goodyear silent armour, or bridgestone dueler, or maybe the michelin (high priced but very good tire). If you are wanting a really good tire that lasts, then i would not look at places like sams club or walmart or other cheaper places because the quality of tire they build under the manufacturer name is a lesser quality than they sell to the actual tire dealers. The giant chain stores force the prices down so the quality goes down also. This info comes from sources that actually produce tires. I am just passing it along, because i myself took a close look at wally worl priced tires.
