question:
im about to put back on my summer wheels and tires 20x9 mm951 /
305/55R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers

does the tread on the tire have to go in a ceratin direction, or does it not matter??

If its specifically a directional tire, it should tell ya on the side of the wheel which way it should rotate as your driving the vehicle.

I'm not positive, but because of the tires you got on, more of an off road tire, I don't think it matters where you mount them. The directional tires are found more on street tires than "truck" tires.
