Hey everyone I am definitly going to get the Toyo Open country MT. I just want to make sure that i am not missing anything. I have a 2004 scab with a 2 inch Autospring leveling kit installed. I have stock rims. I want to get the 315 70 R 17 tires. These roughly come out to a siewall eight of 8.68 a section width of 12.4 and the overall diameter is 34.36. All i need to know is will these fit without any rubbing? O and also if i were to get the 35X12.5 is that basically the same-thing or not. If you guys could help me i would be grateful. I believe the 31570R17 are the 35 by 12.50's, it's just rounded off. I don't own a 4x4 truck but isn't there slight rubbing with 35's?

 

yea thats why i want to find out if there would be because i have a 2 inch level so i do not know if that will be enough to clear.

 

I believe you will have some rubbing on the frame and/or upper control arms at or near full lock.

 

So what is the biggest i can go without rubbing?

 

I think you will have some rubbing with the 35" Toyo MT's. I would also check out the 305x70x17 Maxxis Buckshot's or Bighorn's. They will work on the stock wheels, cost less and give a little more clearance. Just an idea!

 

I have a 2.5in leveling kit with 35 12.5 18 Toyo Mt's and I do rub my control arms at full wheel lock. I've gotten used to it though, and so far no damage. I would say you could DEFINATELY go 33's without rubbing, but not sure of anything larger than that.

 

Ok i do not think i will go any bigger than 33. Does Toyo make a 33 for 17 X 7.5 rim? And if i do get these tires should i get the car re-geared? Thanks for all of your help i know i am beating a dead horse...

 

If you want to go 33". Go with the Toyo MT 295/70 R17, this comes out to be 33/11.50 R17. These are absolutely one of the best mud tires on the market. I have never heard of one complaint out of these tires. They are tough, good looking, and have more bite than you'll probably ever need. Good Luck!

295/70/17 is actually basically a 34x12. (285/70/17 is a 33x11.50). The 295 is a great size! Do a search in the galleries just type in 295/70/17 or 295/70R17 and it will come back with any gallery of someone who has listed that tire size.

 

Is it normal for the tires to make turning a little stiff?

I put a set of Toyo' on my truck and have noticed that turning the steering wheel is more stiff than it was with the stock tires. I was wondering if I had some other problem causing the stiffness, but thought i would inquire here before I start looking into it.

 

If your new tires are bigger then the larger contact patch is probably creating more friction when you are turning your wheels, along with them being heavier.

Actually, that is just a guess but is sounds good, no?
