I think I've decided on a set of wheels, so now I'm wondering what is the best width tire to mount on a 9" wheel? I don't really want the biggest tire I can squeeze on, I want to put on whatever size handles best on a 9".

I've read plenty of reviews on tires, so I won't bother you with another thread about which tires to buy...I promise!
I'm most likely going with silent armor 265/70/17, but wondering if I should get 275, or 285's instead.

 

I have a set of 285x70x17 Toyo AT's on 17x9 wheels and they fit great. These are 33x11.5 tires.

 

That's a wide range of tires. You can fit a 265mm to a 325mm wide tire on a 9 inch wide wheel.

 

11 inch wide tires. Rule of thumb is rim width should be 2 inches less than tire width. At least in my day, it was the rule
