17" or 18" Wheels?

I am looking at doing a 2 1/2" front leveling of my 06 F150 and then putting new wheels/ tires on it. Should I do 285/60 R18 or 285/70 R17? Furthermore, I am trying to decide between Moto 951's and Moto 956's and Nitto vs BFGoodrich All Terrain. Anything you can tell me to sway my opinion one way or another in the matter? Right now I am thinking Nitto TG in 285/60 R18 with the Moto 951. Thoughts and opinions?

i think that the 956's look pretty good... a lot of people have the 951's here. as far as wheel size... personally i would stick with 17's just cause the are a bit cheaper, and some BFG's

Agree, 17s will be cheaper.

I have BFG A/Ts and love them, but there are a lot of great tires out there.

I think you have a better selection of 18 inch wheels and tires. Do you have a 4x2 or 4x4?

I have a 4x4. The price of the wheels/tires in the 17" made me lean toward the 17's to start. Is 285/70 R17 the best size for a truck with a leveling kit? Does it fill out the wheel well nicely? The guy at the tire store had me almost hooked on the looks of the 18's and the Nitto's because they look pretty nice. If I go with 17's no doubt I will go with BFG, because 18" BFG's are out of my price range - but the Nitto's in an 18 are pretty affordable and look as good as the BFG's in the 18". Do the Nitto tires last as long as the BFG's?

On a leveled 4x4 a 305x65x18 would look great on aftermarket wheels, just watch the width and backspacing. 295x70 or 305x65or70x17's would also look great. My 285x70x17's look kind of small on my truck and I had to squeeze some 315's on to get the wheelwells filled up.

I was looking at the same size tires you are, then I looked at 16" rims...saved 300 from the 17s and 500 from the 18s (tires and wheels). The tires alone saved me 80 each dropping from 18s, and the rims were cheaper too. I like the more tire/off road look better.

16's don't fit NBS f150. some aftermarket 17's dont clear the calipers either
