Steering shimmie
Steering shimmie
I have owned my 2004 SCAB 4WD for a little more than a year, and in the last couple weeks it has developed a steering wheel shimmie. I DO NOT think this is the classic steering nibble problem because this will actually go away over about 40 mph. Even at extremely slow speeds (idling in drive), the steering wheel will pull left about 1/2", then right about 1/2", etc. The frequency is directly proportional to vehicle speed up to about 40MPH when it smooths out. Occasionally, the steering wheel will be smooth, but then the whole truck will shake instead.
I haven't had a chance yet to get the wheels balanced, but I am thinking I might have thrown a wheel weight in the snow.

I am now leaning towards a sticking brake caliper on the left front. Last night I could hear what sounded like the wear indicators intermittently squeaking from the left front wheel.
