Backspace on Predators

Thought I had it all worked out. I'm getting 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers and was hoping to get the MB Predator wheels (17x8 -6) but I think that leaves me with 4.2 inches of backspace...will that work on my stock (4.8 BS), no lift or torsion crank, truck? Or should I go with Eagle 187's, 17x9 -8 with 4.625 backspace? I like those predators.

Whoops, looks like those Eagles will stick out just a hair further. I'm confused by the BS issue, from what I've read I thought I wanted 4.5 or more inches of BS?

Right, you want about 4.5 inches of bs. Remember, 4.6 and 4.2 inches of bs are really close. However, the Eagles are an inch wider, so they will stick out a little farther. Either wheel will fit and look fine. I ran 285's on 10 inch wide wheels with 4.5 inches of bs by just trimming a small amout of plastic off my front bumper's lower valance. Either wheel will fit and look fine.

Thanks. I was kind of hoping you'd say it wouldn't work because each day I go between rims and can't decide! I'm also contemplating the 18x8.5 rim which would give me the 4.5. The problem with that is, the 285/65/18 size tire (closest comparable size) is limited in brand if I ever want to change tires.
