Is it wrong...

to run different namebrand tires on the front and back? Tire size is the same, 275-65-R18, just the front are BFG's and the back are GoodYear's.
Someone told me they might be different weight or width and it would put additional stress on the 4X4 system???

As long as the diameter is the same I really don't see an issue, but I could be wrong

I have seen it done alot, but sometimes tires measure differently. Like with 35's for example. Some are 34.6 and some are 34.8 and some are true 35's. I really dont know though.

You should be fine. Just don't mix radial and bias ply tires.

You wouldn't, but it used to be a problem before almost every tire was a radial. Now, only a few truck tires (like Super Swampers) are bias ply.

Probably doesn't apply in your case, but you also don't want to mix speed/performance ratings, either. Different sidewall strengths/flexibilities can do odd things to handling. This can even be a factor from brand to brand.
