Experience Needed

Hey guys,
Right now I have a single cab,v8 4.6 L , 2004 F-150 XL. I'm in desperate need of new tires & wheels...ready to replace the crappy Hankooks they threw on there w/ the plastic hub caps. I'm not trying to go for anything HUGE, just a solid size that'll look good. Even the stock tires on the XLT models look WAYYYY better.I am open to any and all suggestions right now. Thanks for all the help! God bless.

Neil

I would go with a 285/70/17, I assume you have 17" rims. You can look at my gallery, mine are 295's. I think they fill out the wheel well nicely

If you have a 4x4, I agree. If you have a 4x2, I'd suggest a 265/70-17.

If you are going to go for tires and wheels I would step up to 20,s

The larger the louder and more expensive...

I would look at BFG AT, Mick Thompson ATZ, Toyo AT, Nitto Terra Grappler, and Pro Comp Xtreme AT

Check out this site and search the size you want. www.td4l.com I got my OpenCountry A/T's there for a good price and they are a very good tire IMO

Sounds like you need to decide first if you want a "street look" or "off road look".

Yeah sorry I should have specified that. I'm not trying to go for the street look. I'm leaning more toward the off road look, but don't want the whole jacked up, HUGE wheel thing. Just a solid/off road looking tire. I know the description is vague, but you guys have helped me out a lot so far, so keep the info coming! Thanks!

Oh yeah I forgot to ask, so you said that 265/70-17 will fill the wheel well out nicely? Because right now there is so much space in between the tire and the body of the truck (with the stock tires). To refresh you're memory here's the picture.http://www.edmunds.com/pictures/VEHI...76-396x249.jpg.
Thanks again for all your help, I really appreciate it!

Yeah, I'd go with the 265/70-17's. Better yet, add a Autospring leveling kit and go with a 285/70-17 tire. I'd suggest looking at the BFG AT KO's, Toyo AT's, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Pro Comp Xtreme AT's, Mickey THompson ATZ or Bridgestone Duler tires.
