Looking for some HELP!

I am looking for some help in buying new wheels, tires and leveling. I have a 2006 XLT 4x4 and I am about to move to Alaska. I do go offroad for hunting and fishing but nothing major. I was thinking about putting 35's. Local shops are not very helpful and not very good reputations.

Please help...thx

you can use a 35 if you keep the stock rims or get aftermarket ones with the same dimensions. or you could just run 33's. any idea on what kind of tires or wheels or which leveling kit you are going to get?

Do you like chrome or black? Being Alaska may I suggest black! For tires my fave is the Toyo MT, another good one is BFG MT both are available in 35x12.5. What size wheel do you want to run? I have not had any dealings with leveling kits, I just crank the torsion bars up!

May I suggest you tell us exactly what type of driving you will be doing and where in Alaska you will be and when. I think your driving style could change depending on what you want to do and when.

Right now I have been looking at Toyo AT's and possibly 18" wheels. I have stock 17's on right now. Don't know what leveling kit yet...I have looked at a lot of brands.

I will be moving to Ft. Richardson, AK at the end of the year and I will be driving my truck up. I plan on doing a lot of fishing and hunting up there...I have not been there before but I'm guessing the terrain can be fairly rugged to get to good points.

Anchorage gets alot of snow in the winter and mud can be an issue. I would get an "LT" tire as apposed to a "P". My personal preferance is Bridgestone Revo's, or even more agressive for mud.
Someone like Wandell could help you better with leveling and size.
If it's off road in alaska, IT'S MAJOR!

Go for an aggresive tire. The BFG KM2 would be a good choice for you. People are getting a lot of miles out of them, they ride nice for a MT and they are very durrable. BFG makes them in the 35x12.5-17 and 35x12.5-18. You are going to see some weather up there so look at wheels that need low maintance. the MB wheels would be an easy upgrade and they come in a variety of finishes. The polished finish is sharp and is clear coated so cleaning it wouldn't be hard.

I'd suggest adding a leveling kit and a set of 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tires on some 18x9 inch wheels with 5 to 6 inches of backspacing.

I wouldn't go wider than a 255 if driving in the snow. 12.50's are going to push snow rather then cut through it. They will suck.

You can squeeze on some 35's but you may be better off with a 285x70x17 (33x11.5x17) to play in the snow!

jdl2006XLT - This is all good fitment advice, and Wandell is the fitment guru, no doubt. However, if I were you, snow traction would be my primary concern and I would steer clear of a 13" wide tire. You want a tall, narrow tire in the snow.

I thank everyone for their advice. I think I am going to put on LT285/70 17 with my stock wheels. Most likely the BFG AT KO's or MT KM2's.

Does anyone have a recommendation for what size leveling kit and brand?

I'd try the tires on first without the leveling kit and see how they look.
