broke rear brake line, now no ABS
broke rear brake line, now no ABS
Hi Gang.
This fall I burst the rear brake line on my 96 F150 xlt.
The P.O. had done it in one spot i cut the whole 114 inch line section out and replaced it in one line just like the OEM. Now brakes work fine but I now have no ABS before if you were in sand or ice and slid you'd feel the ABS work now i do not. Not sure if there realy a problem or not with it i've tried to make it kick in but no luck feeling it.
When i got the truck last spring the 1st thing i did was bleed out all the black goo that was the brake fuild as i use the truck to tow. I felt the ABS before in this truck but can't figure out why i don't now.
No codes for ABS some on my scanner and the light is off on the dash.
Any clues?
Thanks

I had the same thing happen with my 95 ranger when I burst one of the brakelines. As for the exact reason it happens I am not sure. At the time when I was looking into a fix I decided to let it be, because at the time I was saving money for my F150 anyway. It can be fixed but i'm not sure how expenisive it is. Not sure if this was a big help but atleast you have the comfort of knowing that its not a unique thing.
