BFG's 315 70 17 shimmy
BFG's 315 70 17 shimmy
Hey, I am new to this online Forum - looking to get some advice. I have a 2004 F-150 Supercrew with a Revtek 2" leveling kit. I recently purchased 315 70 17 BFG T/A KO's on American Racing rims. No rub, as the shop sanded down some of the plastic bumper. As soon as I hit 50 mph or higher, the front end shimmy's like crazy. I had it balanced a second time, but no luck. The stock shocks have 53,000 miles on them. I am wondering if it is due to worn out wimpy shocks? I read another guys' thread about a possible bad tire. Am I needing a sterring stabilizer? (Don't know if you need one or can install one with Rack and Pinion). Any advice?
Try This
I had this happen to my wife's van once. What I ended up doing to figure it out was to move the front tires to the back. If the vibration is still there then it's not your tires but if things get better than it is more than likely a tire/wheel issue. Mine ended up being a bad tire and the dealer replaced at no charge.
Good luck,
Good luck,

Thanks, I am in the market for new shocks anyways. Can't decide between Bilsteen 5100 or Monroe Gas Charged. I ran Rancho's on my previous Ford, and loved them. Not sure how rugged of a shock I want - I am not hitting the trails as hard anymore. Any suggestions?
