Anyone from North Carolina?

Hello all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I'm looking for a little help. My brother in-law is currently serving his 4th tour in Iraq. He is and has always been in the RED ZONE during his 4 tours. Here is what I'm looking to do. He has purchased a 2008 F-150 4x4 Lariat that he hasn't even seen yet. He purchased it through the Armed Forces network. His wife picked it up the other day and again... he has never seen it in person. His home is in Eden, NC. I am from the Sacramento, CA area. We have a trip planned for mid-Feb to go visit them for the first time since moving to NC. He has always loved my 2004 F-150 4x4 Lariat. I have a Rancho 4" full suspension lift kit with 35" Toyo MT's. He wants 35" Toyo's as well, but I am not sure if his wife is going to go along with it. Here is what I need help with. I'm looking for any good recomendations for great shops within 80 miles of Eden, NC (maybe Greensboro or Raleigh) that would take great care of him. At this point I am not sure if he's going to lift the truck or not. If not... I suggest he goes with the 33" Toyo MT's. If he wants the 35" I'm going to suggest a 6" full suspension lift. (any suggestions?) I have Weld Wheels and I think he'll be looking for something in the same quality range. Basically he will have about a $8,000.00 budget. I'm hoping he'll be able to add some awesome upgrades for the 8K budget. (Tires/wheels, programmer/exhaust/air intake)

My email is starting to not make sense. I'm looking for help locating some shops within 80 miles of Eden, NC to deck out my brother in-laws new 2008 F-150. I am trying to locate the best shops before he returns in Feb. I will be going back there and taking him around to upgrade his truck is going to be my privilage. I want to try and get everything done in one day. Please help if you are either a shop or simply live around that area and can tell us where to go.

Thanks and happy holidays... :santa:

Greetings! First off, many thanks for your brother's service to his country!

I'm from Raleigh and there are two places that pop into my head. First, we have a brand new 4wheelparts store (www.4wheelparts.com) and a local place called We Do Trucks (www.wedotrucks.com).

I have heard good and bad things about both places, but I think it just comes down to the old saying you can't please everyone all the time. We Do Trucks did my bedliner and I was very happy with the results and the service I received. I will more than likely go with 4WP for my 4.56 gears and installation.

If you have any more questions, just ask!

PS: If you love to fish and golf you should consider making your mid-feb visit permanent! My sister moved from the San Fran area to NC several years ago and loves it!

I think that is what my wife is counting on. We both would love to get out of Ca, but selling our house right now would be very tough. As far as fishing... my brother in-law doesn't know where to go around the Eden area. They bought the house and he's pretty much been in Iraq ever since. I love to fish for anything... I know he loves catfishing. Any idea's? Thanks for the other info. I will be contacting those shops. What is the most popular MT tire for NC? I like the Toyo's but I've heard they are not the popular back East. Thanks... :santa:

Personally I don't do much mudding, but the new BFG MT is pretty popular here on the forum.

Probably won't see too many catfish around here, but the mountains are just 2-4 hours away and there are TONS of lakes all over the place. Plus you have the coast, maybe 2-3 hours away and lots of people will charter boats to fish offshore.

Another great thing about NC is you can get practically twice the house for the same cost as CA.

Enjoy your trip out here and best of luck getting everything set up for your brother-in-law!

I have 35 toyo on my 05 f 150 sc with a 6 inch lift but did it myself before getting disabled if not we could get it done the toyo are good tires. As for fishing the only fish you will find in the mts are trout. There are rivers all around here for cats theres the Neuse River a 70 pounder was pull out in Goldsboro.Theres also several very big lakes around.Plenty of good catfishing lakes like Sheron Harris Lake and alot of good large mouth bass lakes. You need to try out these lakes with your brother in law he deserves a good time. If I wasnt so bad off I would take you myself I well need a few years before I can do anything like fish. Well take care have a Merry Christmas and God bless your brother in law to make it back safe.

Although I have no knowledge to advise you on the truck.. I do think helping him get it all decked out is awesome!

As for fishing in NC, I chartered a boat out of Morehead City, and it was the most memorable fishing experience ever. We brought in a bunch of Bonnet heads, and a few were 5 ft plus! Crazy fun, cost about 300 bucks for a few hours plus tip to the captain and first mate. It was my sister, my dad, and I on this big boat just having a blast. I highly recommend it.

Also, you should just pack your bags and move to NC. I am 90% sure it's where I'm heading after I'm done with vet school in 6.5 years!!
