Want bigger!

I have 35x12.50 R18 Nitto Mud Grapplers with a 6" suspension. I am thinking about a 3" body with 38's. What do yall think? Who makes 38" tires besides Procomp? Thanks

What size differential gears do you have?

If you have not done a gear swap, this should be done before adding anything larger. That will cost you at least $1000 (maybe as much as $1600).

When you get into 38" tires, your options are Parnelli Jones, **** Cepek, Mickey Thompson, Interco (Super Swamper), Goodyear MT/Rs, ProComp.

That's about it that I can think of, but I'm sure I'm missing some.

Thanks for the help. I know for certain I want a 20" rim. How wide tires should I get if it's going to be a 3" body on a 6" suspension?

I wouldn't go wider than a 13.50 personally.

I would say procomp but all there 20in rim tires is 38.5x14.5. 14.5 or 13.5 would be fine. I like procomp becouse they last and balance good. Most other tires don't.

I'm having difficulty finding 38 x 13.50. All I seem to be finding is 38 x 15.50.

Thats a ridiculous statement. Most other tires balance and last as good as pro comps.

So, what's the overall price range I would be looking at for this upgrade? I know the tires will cost me around $1600, 3 inch $250, and the rims around $1000. I have stock gears. Would I have to regear for 38's? If not, I could always go with 37's. What those look to small?

In my opinion, a 37 would look great. Some like the look of 38's. Each to his own. As for gears, you do not have to regear, but it would be a great thing to do. I would definitely do it, but its your money.

I run a 37x13.5 (toyo's, very heavy but solid) on a 6" lift, no body. 5.4L, No gears.....it drives, thats about it. Huge difference from stock. Feels like i have about 35hp. Way sluggish and you can feel the drag on the drive train ( if you have a heavy foot) I'm begging for gears right now, saving the money. Have almost contemplated not driving the truck untill i do re-gear. A lot of stress on the tranny. Like i said, it drives... If i we were to have it our way and the right way, a real 6" lift and tires performance wise would cost around 10 grand. 5 for the lift and tires, 1,500 for the gears, another 1000 in a better/bigger brake kit, beef up the tranny (especially if you have the 4r70w), tune...etc, it never ends. But i don't got that kind of money to throw around. How many people on here are running tires 37" or bigger without gears or any other upgrades and for how long? Ide say gears are almost a must or at least asap

37X13.5 is great, if you want a wider tire get the 38X15.5. There are other options: Super Swamper Irok comes in a 39.5X13.5 which is awesome. There is a truck on here with a ten inch lift and these tires and it is bada**!! As for gears it is a must! I'd go 4.88 with 37 or bigger!
