Do I need diff gears with 35" tires?

Ok, I just got this '06 F150 XLT 4x4 with the 4.6 motor that I will soon be putting 35"x12.5 BFG AT's on(with a leveling kit). I am coming from a '97 F150 4x4 with the same motor. The '06 just feels like its geared higher even with the stock wheels (255/70/17's) than the '97 did with 33" BFG's on it. So my question is, when I put the 35's on, is this truck going to feel like a dog? Will I need to change the gearing? Is it going to be putting strain on the motor/tranny? Has anyone had any reliability issues with putting 35's on this their truck with the 4.6 and stock gearing?

And can anyone tell me if this newer truck actually does have higher gearing than the previous models or is it just me?

find out what is in your rear end and we can answer your question easier. anything less than 3:55's i would regear. its going to be a dog with that 4.6, meaning, you are gunna lose that umph. defineatly taller gears down the road would be my top priority before anything else.

I have 35's with 3.73 rear end and the 5.4 L. It will be a dog with the 4.6 L. I recently switched back to stock wheels/tires for the winter and didn't realize just how bad the 35's dog it down. I wasn't considering regearing until I put the stockers back on.

I'd regear if I were you.
