What's he largest tire I can goto without a lift?
I've got a 05 F150 Extended cab XLT 2WD, I want to go as beefy as possible without having to lift the truck as I drive it 100 + miles a day. There are 235/70 17 on it now, I've been told a 265/70 17 will work and possibly a 285/70 17. Any advice?
265/70/17 is the best upsize for a non-lifted or leveled 2wd. It will fill the wheel wells up nicely. If you put a leveling kit on it would put you about like a stock 4x4 and you could fit the 285's.
Thanks for the advice, I was leaning toward the 265's. Let me ask you this, I get a really bad vibration after I hit about 65 mph which to me points to an issue with the tires. I have read on here however it could be an exhaust issue, ever hear of such a thing?
I have the 265/70/17's on my 2004 Ford XLT 2WD, and it fits the truck perfectly. Stock height, no leveling kit.
The tires are Hankook's. They came on the truck when I bought it three months ago. The tire wear is great, but not the best traction (as far as grip goes) when starting off on the slick streets of Lexington on rainy days.
I dont have any pictures of it, but I can try to get ahold of a camera and get it to ya soon.
