I figure next front brake job, I'll replace both dust shields as they are all but breaking off anyways. This is for a 2000 4x4, how much and/or where can these be found? Obviously the dealer will have them I'd think, anyone do this yet? I am just curious for the time bieng about it.

I'm interested

If you hear about your question, can you forward my way. The brake dust on the front wheels are ridiculous.. One day, they are covered. Anyone else have a solution?

I bought new dust shields for mine this summer. I think they were about $40 but I'll have to check my paperwork when I get home. Only place I could find them was the dealer.

Ok here's my info.

This is for a 97 Xl 4.2l 2WD.

Ford part # 2L3Z-2K004-AA SHIELD - SPLAS

had to be ordered by the dealer at 27.77 ea. Total + tax came to 63.31.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I figured the dealer was the only place.

Ah ha, do a search on dust and see what you find. My suggestions are better quality rotors, no need for slotted or cross drilled or both in my opinion, just the better rotor wherever you get parts from. Added to this, THE most important thing to eliminating dust, a quality semi-metallic pad, for me it was Carquest's semi-metallic that are light Ford blue. I tried their top of the line ceramics and hated them. Dusty a bit, like normal, but noisey as all hell. These "blue" pads I have now are awesome. Wagner thermo-quiets etc amung others as well. The key is semi-metallic and get something warrantied. Trust me, I get almost no dust at all and I'm not that easy on them either.

This was a typical end of 2 week and a little light rain on the outside, haven't washed the insides in months and probably 10k.

I would go with the semi-metalics, I just bought NAPA's best ceramic pads, for front and rear, zero dust, but I'm not happy with the stopping performance, and that's with brand new rotors all-around at the same time. Not confidence inspiring with 35's
