tire size

What size tires would go best with a 3 inch body lift on a 2001 2WD F150?

285/70/17 or 285/75/16. Whichever rim size you have.

You might could squeeze 295 or 305's......

well my stock tires are 16 inch rims, but if I got 285/70/16, could I use my old wheels instead of buying new ones, since the sizes of the rim are both 16 inches?

Yes, a 285/75-16 will fit your OEM 16x7 wheels fine.

Ive been looking at the photo galleries and I was wondering if a 4X4 truck with no lift and 285/75/16 tires wil look the same as a 2WD F150 with a 3 inch body lift and the same size tires. (And im talking about the 97-03 models)

Is there any difference between 255/70/16 and 285/75/16 that would make them not fit my truck?

I'm not sure what you are asking. A 255/70-17 is approximately a 30x10.00 tire. A 285/75-16 is approximately a 33x11.50 tire so it is a lot larger. Both will fit the OEM 16x7 wheels, but a 255/70-16 will look a little small with a 3 inch body lift.

ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

But I was looking at this picture in the photo galleries and the title says it has 285/75/16 and a 3 inch body lift and it doesnt look nearly anything like the height of the 4X4 with the same set of tires. why is that?
